Reduced IFNγ-producing T cells in our agonistic PD-1 treated mice likely contributed to diminished atherosclerosis, as administration of exogenous IFNγ to ApoE−/− mice resulted in an increase plaque formation (30), while Ldlr−/−IFNγ−/− mice developed smaller plaques compared to control (31). Here, LDLR is linked to atherosclerosis.
