Interestingly, HOXD10 methylation occurs not only in the CRC but also in other types of cancer, such as oral squamous cell carcinoma (22), endometrial carcinoma (11), and hepatocellular carcinoma (45), suggesting that HOXD10 hypermethylation is a frequent driver event and represents a promising pan-cancer therapeutic target. The gene discussed is HOXD10; the disease is oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
