KLK3 and pure red-cell aplasia: Data from large screening trials including the European Randomised Study of Screening for Prostate Cancer (ERSPC) [69, 70] and Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovary screening study (PLCO) [71, 72] do not support population screening using PSA, despite evidence of a 21% reduction in PrCa-specific mortality after 13 years of follow-up, and evidence to support earlier diagnosis increasing the likelihood of cure [70].
