Both C1q gene expression on mononuclear cells in peripheral blood and the serum C1q protein levels are related to active disease in human tuberculosis (Cai et al., 2014; Lubbers et al., 2018), and there is a progressive decrease in plasma C1q mRNA expression and plasma C1qC protein during anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy (Cai et al., 2014). The gene discussed is C1QC; the disease is tuberculosis.
