There was only weak evidence of an association between education and the likelihood of being on a special diet among those with diabetes for most countries apart from India where the rates of being on a special diet (RRadj1 = 1.06; 95% CI = 1.02–1.09) or of taking insulin or diabetes medication (RRadj1 = 1.04; 95% CI = 1.01–1.07) increased with increasing years of education. This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
