In Drosophila imaginal epithelia, clones of cells overexpressing oncogenic RasV12 with simultaneous mutations in apico-basal polarity genes such as scribble (scrib) or discs large (dlg) result in tumorous overgrowth and metastatic behavior, the best-characterized model of Drosophila malignant tumors[7,8] (Fig 1b, compare to Fig 1a).
