Serum galectin-3 level was significantly higher in HCC (MD = 3.06, 95% CI = 1.79–4.32, p < 0.001), liver failure (MD = 0.44, 95% CI = 0.23–0.66, p < 0.001), liver cirrhosis (MD = 1.83, 95% CI = 1.15–2.51, p < 0.001), and chronic active hepatitis B (MD = 18.95, 95% CI = 10.91–27.00, p < 0.001); serum galectin-9 level was significantly higher in HCC (MD = 3.74, 95% CI = 2.57–4.91, p < 0.001) and autoimmune hepatitis (MD = 8.80, 95% CI = 7.61–9.99, p < 0.001). Here, LGALS9 is linked to liver failure.
