In GBM particularly, this is associated with a large amount of vascular remodeling and abnormal angiogenesis promoted by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which has extensively been investigated as a therapeutic target in GBM resulting in the regular use of the anti-VEGF antibody bevacizumab in GBM treatment, though this may have only modest impact on overall survival (if any impact at all) (23, 55–57). This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and glioblastoma.
