Gene sequencing of neuroblastoma samples has revealed that the genetic makeup of up to 78% of relapsed neuroblastomas harbors new genetic mutations in the RAS–mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway (RAS–MAPK) and novel MYCN amplifications (Eleveld et al. 2015; Schramm et al. 2015). The gene discussed is WNK2; the disease is neuroblastoma.
