Adiponectin, as an anti-inflammatory adipokine, is known to be inversely associated with insulin resistance, lipid accumulation, and NAFLD by playing a pivotal role in the modulation of hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism, stimulating the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway, and decreasing the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPAR-α) in the liver [9]. Here, ADIPOQ is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
