Elevated ADAM17 levels have been shown in the serum of Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and ANCA-associated vasculitis, in cerebrospinal fluids of patients with neoplastic meningitis, in kidney cyst fluids of polycystic kidney disease, in ascites in sepsis with extensive peritonitis, and even in the context of colorectal cancer [19,20,21,47,48]. This evidence concerns the gene ADAM17 and rheumatoid arthritis.
