Elevated ADAM17 levels have been shown in the serum of Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and ANCA-associated vasculitis, in cerebrospinal fluids of patients with neoplastic meningitis, in kidney cyst fluids of polycystic kidney disease, in ascites in sepsis with extensive peritonitis, and even in the context of colorectal cancer [19,20,21,47,48]. The gene discussed is ADAM17; the disease is peritonitis.
