In 2007, Francis et al. reported in a series of 177 high-grade STS a discriminatory gene signature characterized by the overexpression of several genes implicated in the WNT signaling pathway, including AXIN2, LEF1, TCF7, WISP2, FRAG1, DAAM1, FZD8, MYC, PRICKLE1, and SFRP1 in SS, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST), and myxoid/round-cell liposarcoma [63]. The gene discussed is LEF1; the disease is synovial sarcoma.
