The concentration of homocysteine is a modifiable proatherogenic factor; therefore, the identification of a possible direct link between hiperhomocysteinemia and Il-1β, Il-6, Il-10, Il-12 and RANTES secretion by PBMNCs could be of particular importance, considering the constantly increasing number of patients suffering from civilization diseases closely related to atherosclerosis.
