Finally, in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of a cohort of COVID-19 patients with neurological involvement, levels of soluble PDGFRβ, a pericyte-specific marker in the brain, were significantly reduced compared with non-COVID-19 individuals, suggestive of SARS-CoV-2-related functional impairment of pericytes.
