With conflicting reports of TAAR1 function in the immune system relating to the pro-inflammatory [15] or anti-inflammatory immune response [16], a decrease in TAAR1 mRNA levels in MS monocytes, a pro-inflammatory clinical indication, suggests TAAR1 may play a role in the maintenance and/or promoting of anti-inflammatory responses, at least in monocytes. This evidence concerns the gene TAAR1 and myeloid sarcoma.
