It subsequently shows that Musashi-1 and Musashi-2 dual inhibition results in numerous favorable changes in ovarian cancer cells in vitro: a downregulation of important cancer stem cell-associated genes, especially NOTCH-1, NOTCH-3 and ALDH4A1; a decrease in sphere formation; cell cycle arrest via p21; and a loss in metabolic activity.
