Several other genes have been proposed as a possible cause of vitiligo, such as genes involved in the immune response (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4, Fas ligand, TNF superfamily member 11), interleukins and the complement system (IL1RAPL1, C1QTNF6), and the gene that encodes for the tyrosinase (TYR), an autoantigen specific to melanocytes [9]. This evidence concerns the gene TYR and vitiligo.
