Western blot analyses revealed for both FD cell lines (EA.hy926 and HEK293T) an increased expression of N-acylsphingosine amidohydrolase 1 (ASAH1, an acid ceramidase that converts Gb3 in hydrophilic and soluble lyso-Gb3, an important marker of disease burden in FD) and Ras-related protein Rab-11B (RAB11B, recycling of proteins from the endosomes to the plasma membrane), too (Figure 6A). This evidence concerns the gene ASAH1 and Fabry disease.
