Overproduced ALKBH5 promotes tumour growth by forming a positive feedback loop with HBx protein: HBx triggers upregulation of ALKBH5 via H3K4me3 epigenetic modification of ALKBH5 promoter, causing the removal of m6A from HBx-encoding HBV RNA, leading to stabilization and intensive translation of HBx (Figure 4(C)).
