It has been shown that CCL2/CCR2 signaling is upregulated and plays a role in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, HAND, and in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, a murine model for inflammatory demyelinating diseases (52, 65). Here, CCL2 is linked to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
