Subgroup analysis of continents demonstrated a higher mean CRP level in patients with severe malaria than in uncomplicated malaria patients in studies conducted in Asia (p < 0.001, SMD: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.02–1.93, I2: 0%, two studies) and in Europe (p: 0.007, SMD: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.25–1.57, I2: 89.7%, two studies). Here, CRP is linked to malaria.
