Among the genes involved in adheren junctions, maternal infection upregulated expression of eight cadherins (CDH3,4,5,6,23; CELSR1,2), two catenins (CTNND1, 2) and desmogliein (DSG2) (Table 5) providing a strong indication that the function of these junctions was heightened in response to a maternal nematode infection.
