The pathological involvement of DAT has been shown in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (Sakrikar et al., 2012) as well as in autism spectrum disorder (Bowton et al., 2014) and its reverse activity is associated with pathological conditions, like ischemia (Lakatos et al., 2020; Rossi et al., 2000). This evidence concerns the gene SLC6A3 and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.
