Very interestingly, three recent studies showed that p53 is also subject to post-translational regulation by FBXW7 for targeted degradation in response to DNA damage in multiple human cancer cell lines (Galindo-Moreno et al., 2019; Tripathi et al., 2019; Cui et al., 2020), thus demonstrating FBXW7 participation in DDR to protect cancer cells from DNA damage-induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
