Inversely, CDX2 is ectopically turned on outside the gut in precancerous intestine-type metaplasia and associated adenocarcinoma of foregut-derived organs including stomach and esophagus (Moskaluk et al., 2003), even though patients survival correlates with the CDX2 level in gastric cancers (Seno et al., 2002).
