CD1d−/- mice are more susceptible to pulmonary infection after stroke, by the production of Th2-type cytokines, which correlates with the increase of IL-10 in patients with stroke, however activation of iNKT cells with α-GalCer promotes production of proinflammatory cytokines preventing stroke-associated infections (Wong et al., 2017). The gene discussed is CD1D; the disease is stroke disorder.
