Translocations affecting the 8q24 locus are well-documented in multiple myeloma [29], lymphoma [30] and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia [31, 32], and generally result in MYC (located 53 Kb upstream of PVT1 (Fig. 1)) and PVT1 overexpression; these events are associated with poor prognosis. The gene discussed is PVT1; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
