Although it has been known that inactivation of certain tumor-suppressor genes occurs as a consequence of hypermethylation within the promoter regions (Kulis and Esteller, 2010), our study observed a positive correlation between FN1 expression and methylation, which could be explained by the fact that the most hypermethylated sites were located in body regions of FN1. This evidence concerns the gene FN1 and neoplasm.
