We therefore analyzed mRNA expression of immune checkpoint molecules including PD-1, PD-L1, PD-L2, CLTA-4, CD80, and CD86, in clinically aggressive pituitary adenomas, adenomas that had not exhibited aggressive behavior and normal pituitary tissue to explore whether there is a scientific rationale for investigating whether immunotherapeutic agents are effective against aggressive pituitary tumors. This evidence concerns the gene PDCD1LG2 and pituitary gland adenoma.
