LGALS1 and chronic kidney disease: For CKD, the addition of galectin-1 marginally increased the C statistic from 0.7346 to 0.7353 (p = 0.003) in addition to established risk factors (multivariable model adjusting for age, sex, use of anti-hypertensive treatment, systolic blood pressure, BMI, smoking status, C-reactive protein, fasting blood glucose, prevalent diabetes mellitus and baseline eGFR; Table 2), and the cNRI for galectin-1 was 0.1742 (p = 2.0 × 10−4).
