This observation is well in line with results from clinical trials showing that in patients with Familial Hypercholesterolemia and other hyperlipidemias a combination of statins with an antisense inhibitor of apolipoprotein B (mipomersen) efficiently reduces plasma LDLc levels more strongly than high-intensity statin treatment alone42–45. The gene discussed is APOB; the disease is familial hypercholesterolemia.
