Ron receptor kinase is known to be overexpressed in cancer and to promote metastatic phenotype by epigenetic reprogramming,[27] which also makes it a predictive marker for patient's survival.[28] Lck and Hck are Src tyrosine kinase family members usually expressed in immune or hematopoietic cells, but recently also described to be expressed in cancer cells.[29, 30]. The gene discussed is HCK; the disease is cancer.
