Previous experiments using a small peptide derived from the region of IKKβ that binds directly to NEMO, termed the NEMO Binding Domain (NBD), have demonstrated the therapeutic benefits of targeting IKK for treatment of a variety of pre‐clinical disease models including muscular dystrophy (Reay et al., 2011), Parkinson's disease (Ghosh et al., 2007), arthritis (Dai et al., 2004), senescence and aging (Tilstra et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene IKBKB and Parkinson disease.
