One of the contradictions seen in HF and CRS is the supremacy of the deleterious neurohormonal systems over the beneficial NPs, despite the remarkably elevated circulating levels of ANP and BNP (Villarreal and Freeman, 1991; Braunwald, 2008; Chaney and Shaw, 2010; Dries, 2011; McMurray et al., 2012; Yancy et al., 2013; Schefold et al., 2016). The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
