CORIN and congestive heart failure: Akin to the myocardium, decompensated rats exhibited a decline in renal corin immunoreactivity and mRNA transcript (0.47 ± 0.13; P < 0.01 and 0.9 ± 0.17; P = NS, respectively) as compared with their controls (1.0 ± 0.07 and 1.0 ± 0.04, respectively), whereas compensated CHF displayed upregulation of this enzyme as demonstrated by both the immunoreactive and mRNA levels (1.31 ± 0.22; P = NS and 1.94 ± 0.32; P < 0.05, respectively).
