A recent study of ACE2 gene expression in the nasal epithelium of children and adults, using samples from a pre-COVID-19 asthma cohort, showed that ACE2 expression in the nasal epithelium correlates with age, suggesting that the lower expression of the gene in the nasal epithelium of children may explain why children are less affected by COVID-19 (15). This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and asthma.
