Hyperactivation of PI3K-Akt signalling frequently occurs in human cancers including GC, and it leads to an accumulation of phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate [PI(3,4,5)P3] or phosphatidyl inositol (3,4)-bisphosphate [PI(3,4)P2], thus increasing the recruitment and activation of protein kinase Akt to the cytoplasmic membrane. Here, AKT1 is linked to cancer.
