To assess whether tauopathy induced p62 accumulation was associated with microgliosis and neuronal loss, EC-Tau mice were stained with Cd68 (a marker of phagocytic microglia) and NeuN (a marker of neuronal nuclei) and compared to age-matched WT littermates to control for the effects of aging, independent of tau pathology. The gene discussed is CD68; the disease is tauopathy.
