In support of this theory, MLKL, the protein mediating oligodendrocyte necroptosis in multiple sclerosis (Ofengeim et al., 2015) as well as the peripheral myelin breakdown after nerve injury (Ying et al., 2018), demonstrated an increased expression in the callosal CC1+ cells in Plp-ErbB2V664E mice from 6 dpd (Fig. 8D–F). This evidence concerns the gene MLKL and multiple sclerosis.
