Many animal studies suggested the strong occurrence of TLR2, TLR4, TLR5, and TLR9 in NASH [8], but in recent studies, the high concentration of TLR6 in peripheral monocytes, B-cells, and hepatocytes is the hallmark finding and emerging as the committed peripheral biomarker for obesity-associated NASH. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
