CD44 participates in a wide variety of cellular functions including lymphocyte activation and tumor metastasis (Dalerba et al., 2007; Schmitt et al., 2015), and CD44 plays important roles in ECM-receptor and wnt signaling pathways related to differentiation of the invasion of tumor cells (Hill et al., 2006; Wan et al., 2019) reported that the CD44 expression influenced susceptibility to colorectal cancer in humans, and that an SNP (rs187115) in CD44 was associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (Wan et al., 2019).
