Luo et al. reported that the expression of STING was upregulated in the liver of NAFLD patients, and the loss of STING in liver macrophages could alleviate NF-κB and JNK1 activation, relieve inflammatory responses, and prevent the severity of liver fibrosis in mice with NAFLD (Luo et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
