Previous studies have shown that curcumin can be protected against neurodegeneration in various PD models, including reduction of the damage of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) and 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA), G2019S-LRRK2 on dopaminergic neurons (Rajeswari, 2006; Wang et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
