Given such considerations, we decided to investigate whether the proteoglycan syndecan-1 (SYND1), heparanases (HPSE and HPSE2), metalloproteinases (MMP9, MMP2), and TIMP2 might be involved in the alteration of extracellular matrix (ECM) in psoriasis, using comparative analysis between skin samples obtained from patients with psoriasis and tissues of individuals not affected by the disease. This evidence concerns the gene HPSE and psoriasis.
