A meta-analysis evaluating the prognostic value of CEA included 14,651 mainly Asian patients with gastric cancer treated with either curative or palliative intent and reported shorter disease-free survival (HR 2.28, 95% CI 1.84–2.82) and worse OS (HR 1.63, 95% CI 1.46–1.82) in patients with elevated pretreatment CEA [8]. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and gastric cancer.
