Notably, both CD4+ T regulatory phenotypes presented similar patterns during acute infection and were dependent on the T. cruzi strain because Foxp3HiCD25+ and LAP+ cells were significantly increased in the DA-infected mice at 10 dpi (p = 0.0079) and were found at higher proportions in the Y-infected mice at 30 dpi (p = 0.0317 and p = 0.0159) (Figure 4B).
