The membrane trafficking genes that have been implicated in ALS include Alsin (ALS2), C9ORF72, and Optineurin (OPTN) (Hadano et al., 2001; Yang et al., 2001; Devon et al., 2006; Maruyama et al., 2010; Stepto et al., 2014; Waite et al., 2014). Here, ALS2 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
