TXNRD2 and Alzheimer disease: In this study, we found that treatment with Se-Met did not significantly change the levels of TrxR2 in N2a cells, N2a-SW cells, and 3xTg AD mice, but it increased the levels of SELENO O. These results suggest that upregulation of SELENO O via Se-Met supplementation in AD models may be the key to improving mitochondrial function since selenium mainly exerts its effects through selenoproteins.
