Further analysis on dataset of cocaine-addicted mice revealed that Drd1 and Drd2 genes are both upregulated in cocaine addiction and are almost solely expressed in excitatory neurons, with Drd1 also being found at lower levels in inhibitory neurons, oligodendrocyte and endothelial cells in the mPFC (Bhattacherjee et al., 2019; Navandar et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene DRD1 and cocaine dependence.
