Although no inflammatory changes were detectable 2 days after infection, the number of brain inflammatory cells consisting of differing proportions of CD3+ T lymphocytes, Iba‐1+ macrophages, and later CD79+ B lymphocytes were detectable at day 8 pi, peaked between day 12 and 15 pi and showed slightly lower levels at 21 days pi.
