In fact, our data obtained from single-cell imaging experiments suggested that Mtch2 silencing delayed Ca2+-induced mPTP opening and decreased mitochondrial swelling and bioenergetics in Bax/Bak double-deficient colon cancer cells, indicating that the MTCH2 is required, and per se sufficient, for the preservation of mitochondrial energetics (Figures 1, 2). This evidence concerns the gene BAK1 and malignant colon neoplasm.
